So how does this actually work?
One Day to Go!!
Yep, that’s right. It is all systems go for tomorrow. Less than 24 hours till we are into the full flow of ideas being thrown around and people being fined for using terms like Big Data. The people who have been before know what to expect but for those new to MeasureCamp, especially if new to the unconference format, it can all be a bit intimidating.
The key thing to remember is that unconferences are informal. A little bit of chaos is highly likely. But because of this, the potential for learning is amplified. There are minimal rules (basically respect for each other) and all we ask of you is to contribute wherever you can.
Aim to get there between 9am and 10am – and come hungry, we are supplying breakfast. Let us know that you have arrived, get your name badge and t-shirt. Although, if the queue is pretty long, get some breakfast first to eat while in the line.
Dress code, well that isn’t one. Wear whatever you want to feel comfortable. We don’t judge the two or three people who choose to wear suits…
But what is the content going to be????
The conference opens at 10:15 where we will introduce the event and go into a bit more details about how it all works. At the front of the room will be a big blank board with rooms and timeslots – yes, it is blank. With everything explained though, we will be declaring the board open. At that point, everyone is welcome to add a topic to the board (there will be cards to write your topics on). It can be a presentation you have prepared or just a discussion you think is worth having. It is your choice of room and time.
The main area can hold 100 ppl while there are three boardrooms containing presentation screens & hold 20 to 30 people. Then we have access to a few small rooms, comfortable seats (beanbags even). These are great for discussions (potentially even therapy sessions). I highly recommend going to a mixture of presentations and discussion sessions at MeasureCamp, they give you different perspectives to learn from.
And that is about it. Come along and get involved. I encourage everyone to run a session, it is a truly amazing experience. It doesn’t have to be a presentation, one of the best sessions at the last MeasureCamp was from Anna Lewis who decided during the morning to run a brainstorming session on Event & Custom Variable Tracking with Google Analytics. We do have some session descriptions listed on the website already so you can get an idea of content. Or see what you can read from the session board at the last MeasureCamp. That is all just a starting point – it is up to everyone attending (including you) as to what the content will be for MeasureCamp #3.
